About Me

Born in Dorset, I moved to London as a teenager, but after 11 years, I followed my heart back to the countryside. For the past 30 years, I’ve been based in West Sussex, where the surrounding nature—rolling downs, ancient trees, sea-worn pebbles, and driftwood—continues to deeply inspire my work.
I often refer to this as “design by nature,” and I remain a keen student.

My sculpture is rooted in purity and simplicity of form and finish, but above all, I create tactile, sensual objects that invite touch.
I primarily carve in wood using a process called direct carving—working intuitively with the material, without a fixed outcome in mind. I love using reclaimed or found wood, enhancing its inherent character: the grain, knots, cracks, and even traces of a previous life. Rather than disguising these so-called imperfections, I work with them, shaping them into effortless, desirable forms.

Before becoming a full-time sculptor, I worked internationally as a creative consultant, designing abstract, site-specific installations. Alongside that work, I studied sculpture part-time at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art in London.
This background in large-scale installation continues to inform my practice. The lateral thinking I developed designing for museums, hotels, restaurants, and retail spaces now inspires me to reimagine my carvings as limited-edition casts. By shifting scale, orientation, material, colour, and translucency, I explore how each change transforms their presence. Every piece is hand-cast and finished, so even within a limited edition, no two are ever the same.
This fusion of design, craftsmanship, and problem-solving drives my practice, fueling my passion for working across materials and scales, and for finding fresh ways to bring forms to life.

I’ve extended this approach into Art With Purpose, a small collection of handmade, limited-edition objects for the home. Co-created with my sister, this project focuses on thoughtful material combinations and functional, tactile beauty...each piece made by me or in collaboration with fellow artisan makers.
